    Tire Repair
    in Xenia, OH

Got a flat? Pitt Stop Tire & Auto has been getting Xenia drivers — and Greene County neighbors from Beavercreek, Fairborn, and Yellow Springs — safely back on the road since 1983. We follow strict TIA and USTMA repair guidelines so every fix is done right.

    Our Process

The Right Way to Repair a Tire

A thorough tire inspection is required before any repair can begin. At Pitt Stop, we always remove the tire from the wheel and rim assembly — not all unsafe conditions are visible from the outside.

This full interior inspection lets us check both the exterior and interior walls for hidden damage. Only after this assessment can we determine whether a safe repair is possible or whether a replacement is necessary.

Attempting to patch a tire that's damaged beyond repair guidelines risks tire failure at highway speed. We won't cut corners — your safety on Xenia's roads and beyond depends on it.

    Puncture Size

The puncture must not measure more than 1/4 of an inch (6mm) in diameter to qualify for a safe repair.

    Puncture Placement

The damage must fall within the center tread (crown) of the tire. Sidewall and shoulder punctures cannot be safely repaired per TIA and USTMA guidelines.

    Tire Quality

Tire repairs must not overlap. If injuries are directly across from each other, a full replacement is recommended.

    Know the Limits

When a Tire Cannot Be Repaired

If the tire meets any of the following non-repairable criteria, you'll need a new tire. We carry all major brands in Xenia and can get you outfitted same day in most cases.

Puncture outside the crown/tread repair area
Sidewall or shoulder damage of any kind
Punctures larger than 1/4" in diameter
Overlapping or multiple repairs in the same zone
    Weakened or bulging sidewall
Tires worn beyond safe tread depth

    FAQs

    Tire Repair Q&A

Do I need to buy a full set of replacement tires if only one is damaged?

While it may seem cost-efficient to only replace the bad tire, it's better to replace all four — especially if they've been used for a while. Today's suspension technology is designed to work best with a matching set. At minimum, replace tires in pairs for best performance and handling.

Is retreading a safe form of tire repair?

Yes! Nearly 80% of the world's airlines and heavy-duty vehicles use retreaded tires regularly. However, tires cannot be retreaded if run underinflated, worn below 4/32" of tread, or improperly maintained. Stop in and we'll give you a definitive answer.

Can all tire damage be repaired?

No. Shoulder punctures, overlapping repairs, large holes (larger than 1/4" for passenger cars or 3/8" for light trucks), and weakened sidewalls all require full tire replacement rather than a patch or plug.

How long does a tire repair take at Pitt Stop in Xenia?

Most tire repairs take 20–30 minutes. We remove the tire from the rim for a full interior inspection before patching, so the repair is done right — not just a quick roadside plug.
